The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials had allowed the men and women players to travel with their families ahead of the team’s United Kingdom tour, considering the bio-bubble fatigue, mental wellbeing and hard quarantine norms.

While the players reached England on June 3, they are undergoing a mandatory quarantine in Southampton, the venue for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship Final (WTC) against New Zealand. Many players such as Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Poonam Yadav and Harmanpreet Kaur have shared pictures of the beautiful stadium on their respective social media accounts.

Anushka Sharma, too, joined the bandwagon and posted the picture on Instagram last week. The Indian skipper’s wife has accompanied him on tour to cheer team India and is absolutely loving the English weather. The Bollywood Actress is again in the news, this time for posting another post on her social media handle.

She posted a boomerang video in her Instagram story and wrote “That kind of English summer”, along with a cloud emoji. Currently, the players seem pretty relaxed and happy ahead of the summit clash which begins on June 18 at the Ageas Bowl.

India men’s and women’s team looking ahead to the United Kingdom tour

India have played some phenomenal cricket in the last three to four years, especially in the purest format beating top teams like Australia, England and South Africa along the way. Clearly, their series win Down Under highlighted their dominance abroad, apart from being exceptional at home.

With just one series loss against New Zealand in the WTC cycle, the Indian team has form and momentum going for them, but they will be wary of the threat posed by Blackcaps, who are no longer the underdog that they were used to be. Apart from the WTC final, India plays a five-match Test series in England which will be an ultimate acid test for the Indian batters who have struggled in the seam and swing conditions in the past.

Meanwhile, the women’s team is all set to play a Test match against England after a gap of seven years, starting June 16.
