Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli helped rookie KL Rahul on the tour of Australia in 2014

Indian cricketer KL Rahul made his Test debut for the team back in 2014 on the tour of Australia. He was a rookie in the national cricketing scene at that time and had a rather forgettable debut. He tried to slog and was dismissed for a duck in Melbourne. Rahul had survived a dropped chance earlier in that inning but couldn’t make it count. He was extremely disappointed and depressed that’s when Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma came to his aid.

It was Anushka who noticed it and they called Rahul for dinner. They shared their personal experiences and comforted the youngster. It also helped KL gather himself and be able to manage the situation in a much better way. Virat and Anushka who were dating them also made sure he didn’t get lonely.

“There was one instance after a match at Melbourne where I had a terrible performance. I was miserable and depressed,” said KL Rahul, according to IANS.

“Anushka, who noticed this, came up to my room and asked me to accompany her and Virat to their dinner date. The couple talked me through their similar experiences and that helped me understand how to manage these situations better.

New Year’s Eve with them

The Indian team spent the New Year’s Eve in Australia to make sure KL was not alone even then Virat and Anushka had him along on the special day as well. He is grateful for all the love and calls them a powerful influence.

“They took immense care of me and ensured I was not alone. They even made sure I spent the new year night with them. They are an amazing couple and have really had a powerful influence on me,” said Rahul.

Linkup with Nidhhi

He was recently linked up with actress, Nidhhi Agarwal, as the two were spotted at a restaurant in Mumbai together. KL said that they’ve known each other for long and are good friends but all the talks about relationship are false.

“We have known each other since our college days. We are just good friends and all the rumours are false,” he said.
