Bollywood singer Arijit Singh has a very special question to ask to India’s star batsman Virat Kohli. The Indian Test skipper yet again proved to be the master of the run chase. A solid knock from him saw India ease past New Zealand in the first ODI of the 5-match series. The total of 190 was modest but it needed some batting to get it. Kohli took his time to settle in and then played sensible cricket to take India over the line. He did not play any risky shot.
His only aerial shot was the winning six that saw India win by 6 wickets. His effort of match winning 85 came off 81 balls with 9 fours and a six. Kohli’s effort was just too good to give New Zealand no chance of even sniffing a prospect in the match. His approach in run chases has been exceptional and his form is a good sign for India in the long season. When the match was in progress, Bollywood singer Arijit Singh took to micro-blogging site Twitter to praise the Indian batsman.
Arijit was awestruck with the way Virat Kohli was hitting those cover drives. He was quick to tweet and ask how on earth does Kohli manage to hit such perfect copybook cover drives. Arijit’s tweet read, “@imvkohli How do you play cover drive so so so good in the world? #Kohli.” Kohli had himself admitted in the past that he loves to play the cover drive.

Watching Kohli hit the cover drive could be a very good learning for any young cricketer. He is as good as a cricket textbook would get when it comes to the cover drives. He leans into the shot, gets to the line of the ball, head high, eyes right over the ball and a high elbow. He doesn’t need power to caress the shot to the fence. It all comes from sheer timing. And Virat Kohli has mastered the art.

Interestingly, he had struggled with the ball shaping away on lengths outside off. He has cut down on playing cover drives initially in his innings to become a much-improved cricketer now.
