Arjun Tendulkar fails to impress in practice match, unlikely to be picked in the squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy
Arjun’s life is a challenging one, especially in a country where cricket is nothing short of a religion.
Bearing the surname of a man called the ‘God of cricket’ is certainly no easy task. Arjun Tendulkar has hogged the limelight everywhere he goes, and on many occasions, he has received a lot of criticism, with many people of the opinion that his surname might allow Arjun to ‘get things done’ his way.
When he is picked in the side, it is often said that he gets into the side because of the luxury of being Sachin Tendulkar’s son. And when he doesn’t, people again hurl abuses at him for his inability to match his father’s prowess. Surely, Arjun’s life is a challenging one, especially in a country where cricket is nothing short of a religion.
Now, ahead of the Vijay Hazare trophy squad announcement, Arjun Tendulkar has struggled to put up impressive performances. Arjun, primarily a bowler all-rounder, unlike his celebrated father, played one practice match and was completely off-color. There were 3 teams that played the practice games, and in the only match that he played for his side, the junior Tendulkar bowled 4.1 overs and was smashed for 53 runs. He went at an economy rate of 12.93 runs per over and failed to pick up even a single wicket. And now, his selection might be in doubt, after his horrible performance in the practice game.
Arjun Tendulkar registers for IPL auction
On the other hand, 19-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal dazzled with the willow. The left-hander scored a mercurial 97-ball unbeaten 142, to impress the selectors ahead of the squad announcement. Indian opener Prithvi Shaw, who was left out of the Indian Test side after failing with the willow in Australia, scored a blistering 35 off just 20 deliveries.
As far as Arjun Tendulkar is concerned, he has registered his name for the upcoming IPL auctions. Arjun’s base price is 20 Lakhs, and he will go under the hammer in the all-important auctions before the 14th edition of the IPL. The 21-year-old was also seen along with several Mumbai Indians’ players during the 13th edition of the IPL that took place between September and November last year in UAE.
Life is surely not easy for Arjun, as every time he takes the field, his father’s name would be brought into the picture. But by now, he would have probably learned to deal with it.
