He might have been ignored for the off-season camp in Mumbai after making an ordinary international debut in U19 Tests against Sri Lanka, but that hasn’t stopped Arjun Tendulkar from displaying his love for the game of cricket. The junior Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, was on Friday (August 10) seen sharing duties with the ground staff at Lord’s where India and England are playing their second game of the five-Test series.

The 18-year-old who is in England currently was not only found sharpening his skills with the MCC Young Cricketers but also extending a helping hand to the ground staff members who were having a busy time preparing the ground against downpours. The first day of the crucial Test was washed out and India were 11 for 2 as lunch was taken early on a rain-hit second day as well.

Lord’s acknowledge the youngster’s work

Arjun’s contribution was also acknowledged by Lord’s Cricket Ground authorities who on Twitter applauded the left-hand fast bowler saying: “Not only has he been training with @MCCYC4L recently & but he has also been lending a helping hand to our Groundstaff!”

Tendulkar took three wickets in two youth Tests in Sri Lanka besides scoring a duck and 14 runs. Recently, he was seen having lunch with English woman cricketer Danielle Wyatt, who made the headlines for asking Indian captain Virat Kohli to marry him, in London.

Sachin, too, had made the headlines during the 1987 Prudential World Cup played in the Indian sub-continent when he had served as a ball boy near the boundary as a 14-year-old.

India, meanwhile, made two changes to their playing XI for the Lord’s Test, bringing in Cheteshwar Pujara in place of Shikhar Dhawan and spinner Kuldeep Yadav to replace pacer Umesh Yadav. The visitors lost two early wickets, losing both openers Murali Vijay (0) and KL Rahul (8), with just 10 on board. Pujara (1 off 22) and Kohli (1 off 2) were at the crease when lunch was taken.
