Arjun Tendulkar shines in Mumbai U19's victory over Assam U19
The 19-year-old has picked 13 wickets playing all six games.
Arjun Tendulkar has been creating a name of his own in the cricketing universe. The son of the batting supremo Sachin Tendulkar is taking giant leaps in junior level cricket in the ongoing Vinoo Mankad Trophy. Regarded as a fast bowling all-rounder Arjun played a phenomenal role in Mumbai U19 team’s victory over Assam juniors.
Mumbai recorded their fourth victory in six games as Arjun leads the wicket-takers tally for his side. The left-arm pacer has picked 13 wickets playing all six games. He has continued to inspire confidence in his team’s bowling line-up with another fantastic performance.
Tendulkar’s three wickets help Mumbai restrict Assam
He picked up three wickets the clash against Assam. Tendulkar had spectacular bowling figures of 7-2-14-3. The opposition was bowled out for a paltry total of 99 runs. Other bowlers in the team were on the money as well and Mumbai managed to record a sensational victory by 10 wickets.
Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suved Parkar ensured that there were no casualties for the Mumbai side. Together, they both achieved the target in just 22 overs. Winning the game by 10 wickets, the U19 Mumbai side won the game with 28 overs to spare.
Ineligible for the next U19 World Cup
Arjun was also a part of the India U19 team that played two first-class games against Sri Lanka in July. While he didn’t have much to show with the bat, he took 3 wickets. He wasn’t named in the One-Day side since the all-rounder would turn 20 next year, which makes him ineligible for the next U19 World Cup in 2020.
If he does well, Arjun is likely to break into the Mumbai U23 squad as well. The youngster will also be aiming to make it into the Mumbai seniors team.
