Arjun Tendulkar traps the batsman LBW to pick his maiden wicket in Youth Internationals
All the eyes will be on his batting as well.
There was a lot of anticipation for the U19 Test series between India and Sri Lanka to begin courtesy of Arjun Tendulkar’s selection in the team. The fans are already comparing him with Sachin Tendulkar who served the country for more than 24 years and is regarded as the best batsman in World Cricket. Arjun, the pace bowling all-rounder has begun his career perfectly as he trapped the batsman plumb in front of the stumps only in his second over.
It is no surprise that the pressure will always be on him to perform like his father who used to pummel the best bowlers during his illustrious career. He has also bowled at the Indian batsmen like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in the nets before and has been guided by Team India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun. His pace is impressive and the focus will be entirely on him whenever he steps out on the field.
Arjun’s maiden wicket
Arjun Tendulkar was handed over the new ball by his captain after the hosts won the toss and opted to bat first in Colombo. The left-arm pacer lived up the expectations and struck in the very second over of his spell. He trapped Kamil Mishara in front of the stumps with a length delivery which tailed back in late. The batsman played an expansive drive and missed the line of the ball completely to get hit on his back leg.
It was a straightforward decision for the umpire as he didn’t waste any time in raising his finger. An early wicket must have put a spring in the step for Arjun. So far, he has delivered 11 overs and has conceded 33 runs and is yet to strike again.
His batting will also be scrutinised later in the game and parallels will be drawn with the master blaster. But the youngster will be keen on concentrating on his bowling first and pick more wickets for his team.
