Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram was involved in a road accident last year. Recently, an arrest warrant has been issued against him by a sessions court in Pakistan. The warrant issued is a bailable one and hence it is very unlikely that the former cricketer will have to face any inconvenience because of it.

The point to note is that the case in the court for which the warrant has been issued is not against Akram but filed by Wasim Akram. Apparently, Akram had sued a retired army officer. He was subsequently expected to attend the court hearings. However, the cricketer missed as many as 31 consecutive court hearings following which the session court in Pakistan issued a bailable arrest warrant against him.

The incident dates back to last year when Akram was involved in a road accident with the army officer. Wasim Akram was on his way back to his residence after having conducted a bowling camp at the National Stadium. It was then that his Mercedes collided with the vehicle of Major (retd) Aminur Rehman.

The major was absolutely miffed and took very little time in taking out his revolver. He even went on to fire an open shot. This made the former cricketer very disappointed and aggravated. Wasim Akram then sued the retired officer and filed the case at Bahadurabad police station. As per the reports in Indian Express, the matter was solved between the officer and the cricketer soon after.

A few influential people had intervened to settle the matter between the two. Since the matter was internally solved between the two, they felt there was no need to attend the court hearings. However, the sessions court has now ordered Akram to attend the next hearing. The next hearing is scheduled for January 17. The court has also directed the police department to make sure that Akram attends the hearing without fail.
