Former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan was quite impressed with the way Arshdeep Singh has bowled so far in the season and heaped praises on him as well. Arshdeep has been one of the best death bowlers of the tournament so far and has nailed his yorkers to perfection continuously for the Punjab Kings. With an economy rate of 7.14 (death overs), Arshdeep has been able to keep the biggest of the finishers quiet and is making a strong statement to the selectors as well.
Arshdeep has taken nine wickets so far in 13 games of IPL 2022, but more importantly, he has put his hand up whenever the team needs him in different phases. He had repaid the faith for retaining him ahead of the mega auction by the franchise so far and is a strong contender to make it to the Indian team soon.

Irfan Pathan noted about Arshdeep being a special talent and highlighted the qualities that have made him stand out from the bowlers of his age. He lauded the seamer for showing phenomenal progress in terms of his bowling growth and noted the way he has kept big names quiet in the final overs. He explained how Arshdeep has managed to keep his presence felt despite Kagiso Rabada in the ranks as well for Punjab Kings.
“Arshdeep is a special player. He is young, confident, and accurate. All these qualities distinguish him from the bowlers of his age. He’s keeping big players like MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, or someone else silent in the death overs and that speaks volumes about the kind of talent he possesses. His growth has been phenomenal,” said Pathan on the Cricket Live show on Star Sports.
“Despite the presence of a proven international pacer in Kagiso Rabada, an uncapped Indian seamer is getting the recognition proves how good a talent he is. He’s going to be the next big thing for Punjab Kings,” he added.
