Ashes 2019: Jofra Archer had already predicted what happened in the 3rd Test
Jofra Archer- the new Paul Octopus?
Paul Octopus predicted Spain winning the FIFA World Cup in 2010. He had a success rate of approximately 85.7 percent with his predictions. However, ever since he died in 2012, as a two-yr old, the search for an apt replacement has been under process. They tried a Chinese Panda, an elephant and what not but they could not substitute him. Just like Australia struggling to substitute their legends who never let nerves got the better of him the world is struggling to replace Paul.
But it seems we have found a replacement in Jofra Archer or maybe Paul’s spirit has got into Archer. The England bowler’s old tweets keep getting true and he ensures people know and learn about his predictions by digging up those old tweets once they prove true.
Following the famous mouth-watering one wicket win over Australia in the 3rd Ashes Test where Ben Stokes played a blinder, Archer shared few old tweets which indicated that he knew that just two matches into his Test career, Archer will witness the best run-chase Ashes has seen in a long long time.
Series of 2013 tweets making Archer astrologer
Archer had tweeted in December 2013, “Well played Stokes,” perhaps referring to the Ashes Test of 2013 when Stokes hit a similar century albeit in a losing cause in that game, which was also a third Ashes Test at Perth. But it was crafted in such a way that when Archer retweeted it on Sunday, it seemed the tweet was drafted for this day.
Another tweet from 2013 that Archer shared read, “Best run chase,I have seen in my life”. This was from October 16, 2013. Archer may have used the tweet 6 years ago to refer to India’s famous ODI victory against Australia when Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli helped India chase 350 with 7 overs to go.
Archer has been surprising the world with predictions since the ICC World Cup 2019. Even during the first innings of the Test Archer had re-shared a post from 2014 which had predicted them getting all out for 67 runs. He also got injured while bowling and another 6-year old tweet resurfaced which read “caught cramp today”.
With the Tokyo Olympics and the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled for next year, maybe it’s time we use Archer as our new Paul Octopus.
