Ashes 2021-22: Pat Cummins calls Usman Khawaja to pose for team photograph, asks teammates to hold their champagne celebrations
Usman Khawaja was staying away as his religion does not allow him to indulge in champagne.
Australia have annihilated England in the 2021-22 Ashes series. The Pat Cummins led side bossed over their opposition in the entire Test series, and hammered them by a margin of 4-0.
And, when the Aussies were celebrating their sensational victory over their arch-rivals the Aussie players were ready to open their bottle of champagne. However, Usman Khawaja is a Muslim and his religion does not allow him to indulge in champagne. And, Khawaja was staying away.
But then, Cummins asked Khawaja to first come over and pose for the photo, and after that he asked his teammates to continue their celebrations with the champagne bottle.
“This might be a small gesture but this is what makes Pat Cummins great. He realised Khawaja had to dip because of the booze and rectifies it,” read a tweet showcasing Cummins’ wonderful gesture.

Australia annihilate England in the 5th Ashes Test match
The Australian side produced a dominating performance in the 5th Ashes Test match against the England side and thrashed their opponents by a margin of 146 runs inside three days at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
Australia posted a total of 303 in their first innings, and England responded with a total of 188. The Aussies were bowled out for 155 in their second essay, which meant that Joe Root and his men needed to chase down a target of 271 for victory.
England started well as their openers put on a partnership of 68 runs for the opening wicket. However, after that the England batting lineup collapsed in sensational fashion. The Joe Root-led outfit lost their next 9 wickets for the addition of just 56 runs.
Australian batter Travis Head won the Player of the Match as well as the Player of the Series award. While Head won the Player of the Match award for scoring a sensational century in the first innings of the 5th Ashes Test match, the left-hander won the Player of the Series award for amassing a total of 357 runs in 6 innings, including 2 centuries in the entire series.
