Ashish Nehra has recently been in the news for his supreme dedication to the sport that has been proved by his comeback to the Indian T20 side. Nehra has been an old customer of the nation’s cricketing arena, having made his Test debut back in 1999. However, a video has been doing the rounds on social media of late, showing the aggressive side of the pacer, back in 2005 when he abused a young MS Dhoni on the field.

An India vs Pakistan clash always has brought forth jittery nerves and flying tempers onto the field from both sides. In one such ODI between the two teams in Ahmedabad, back in 2005 saw a momentarily agitated Ashish Nehra give Dhoni a piece of his mind after he missed an all too simple catch behind the stumps. The match saw Pakistan have the last laugh as they won the match by 3 wickets.

Nehra loses his temper at MS Dhoni

The 4th ODI in Pakistan’s Tour of India at was held at Ahmedabad in April, 2005. Pakistan’s batting genius, Shahid Afridi was on strike at a personal score of 10 runs, when he swung his bat at delivery off Nehra and the healthy nick meant a regulation catch for the wicket-keeper behind the stumps. However, the ball went sailing in between the first and second slip positions, and Nehra was far from being pleased. Being a passionate fast bowler, he had a few of the choicest words on offer for the young Dhoni, under whose captaincy the former would come to play in the future.

Here’s the video of the incident:

In recent times, 38-year old Ashish Nehra was seen as the bowling mentor of the Royal Challengers Bangalore side in the Indian Premier League 2018 season. He was also seen in the pre-session analysis of India games.
