Former English off-spinner feels that the team England could well find another consistent middle-order batsman in the form of young Adam Hose. Recently, Giles reflected back at the impressive start that Hose has had in the domestic T20 competition this year. He remarked that Hose has all the capabilities to become the next Kevin Pietersen of the English side.
Ashley Giles noted that some of the shots that Hose has played thus far in the competition resemble to the shots that KP used to play. Adam Hose was signed by Warwickshire midway through the NatWest T20 Blast this season. Hose, who hails from Somerset, scored a quickfire 76 off just 47 balls on his debut. He then followed it up with quick cameos of 49 and 36 against the sides of Lancashire and Surrey respectively. As per the quotes in News18, Giles noted that this young man is made for the biggest stage.
“It’s early days but he is a ‘hairs up on the back of your neck’ sort of player. Some of the shots he hits, some of his attributes are very similar to KP’s. He is the same sort of size, has long levers, hits the ball out in front of himself well, and hits it miles when he gets in,” quoted Ashley Giles.
The big six
Playing his first game, Hose was expected to feel the heat. However, he looked absolutely calm as he bludgeoned as many as 5 sixes in his knock. One among those maximum hits went to the top tier of the stands in Edgbaston. Citing this as an indication, Ashley quoted that the English team have a big prospect ahead of them.
“I’ve never seen anyone do that before. There’s every chance we have got a bit of a golden nugget here. He’s done it the tough way but we are delighted to have him.” Giles mentioned.
