Ashley Nurse's hilarious celebration after dismissing Ambati Rayudu brings back memories of comedian Kapil Sharma

Celebrations have almost become a platform for sportsmen to show their creativity. Meanwhile, with time, some celebrations have begun to define other famous names. In cricket, Hasan Ali’s ‘bomb explosion’ celebration is probably the most well-known, while David Warner massive leap after scoring a century possibly ranks second. The Windies are also known for their variety of celebrations.

On Wednesday, however, Ashley Nurse came up with what the Indians would call the ‘babaji ka thullu’ celebration after getting rid of Ambati Rayudu. Nurse clean bowled Rayudu in the 33rd over of the match when the right-hander was looking good to score a century. The batsman was on 73 when he went for a slog sweep off Nurse, but a slight pause in the bowler’s action meant Rayudu was a shade early into the stroke.

He failed to get bat on ball, and lost his stumps. Right after the crucial dismissal, Nurse appeared to do the famous ‘babaji ka thullu’ celebration, made famous by comedian Kapil Sharma.

There would have been disappointment in the Windies dressing room after they came agonizingly close to winning the second ODI against India on Wednesday. Asked to chase a total of 322, the visitors fell just one run short in the end, and eventually had to settle for the tie. They needed 5 to win off the final ball, but Shai Hope somehow managed to find the fence through the hands of Ambati Rayudu at deep point.

The visitors haven’t had a memorable series so far, suffering two consecutive humiliating defeats in the Test series, and losing the first ODI in Guwahati despite posting a 300+ total. In Visakhapatnam, however, the Windies were determined to turn things around.

In the chase, they were led by Shai Hope (123) and Shimron Hetmyer (94) as Jason Holder’s side managed to secure a thrilling tie. Hope’s coming-of-age century almost outclassed Virat Kohli’s dazzling 157 as well as the fact that the Indian skipper had got to 10,000 ODI runs.
