Ajiinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane opened the innings along with Rohit Sharma, and like Rohit, Rahane also had a forgettable game against Pakistan in the 2016 Asia Cup. He was trapped in front with an unplayable inswinging delivery that thudded onto the pad and was dismissed for a golden duck.
Rahane was destined to be one of the long-serving players of the Indian team in the longer formats. After the Asia Cup, he also went on to appear in the 2016 World Cup, making it his third appearance in a row in an ICC major event, after the 2014 T20 World Cup and 2015 ODI World Cup.
Rahane was also Virat Kohli’s long-time deputy in Tests and has also captained the team on a few occasions. He also maintained an unbeaten record as the captain in the longest format. However, after a series of poor performances with the bat, he was shown the exit door. He last played for India in January.
