India survived Hong Kong scare in a thrilling game which many thought a warm-up game for the world number 2 team in the ODIs. What a game it was! Anshuman Rath and Nizakat Khan batted exceptionally to forge a sensational 174-run opening stand which had garnered thoughts of a famous win over a team like India. It looked amazingly possible at one stage but once the partnership was broken, their inexperience came to the fore and the Indian bowlers pounced in big time.

The chase of 286 began for Hong Kong and surely there must have been talks in the crowd and all over the world on the margin of India’s victory. But as the game progressed, almost all the Indian fans would’ve been biting their nails. Both Rath and Nizakat showed amazing temperament as they played the wrist spinners beautifully and the pace bowlers were manipulated rather like anything.

Eventually, it was Kuldeep Yadav who broke the partnership and the pressure built on them. Khaleel Ahmed, the debutant, scalped a couple more and the dot balls also helped the required run-rate soar quickly. However, they stayed in the game right until the end and it went close. But India’s experience prevailed as they won the game by 26 runs, way lesser margin, and it was a moral victory for Hong Kong.

Dhawan steers India

Earlier in the day, India were invited to bat first and the openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan began confidently and it was easy going with nothing for the seamers. But the former played a rash shot off the spinner Ehsan Khan and was dismissed on 23. However, his partner kept on playing well and found an able partner in Ambati Rayudu.

Both of them added 116 runs for the second wicket and then he stitched an 89-run stand with Dinesh Karthik to put India firmly on the way to 300. In the meantime, Dhawan also reached his 14th ODI ton and changed gears soon after soaking in the applause from the sparse crowd. He was dismissed for 127 runs and then there was no one scoring runs for them.

Hong Kong bowlers put brakes on the run-scoring and restricted India to only 285 runs thanks to the late wickets which fell.

The social media gimmicks were at work and trolled the Indian bowlers to the hilt in their hilarious memes during the course of the game.
