The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is leaving no stone unturned in the team’s preparations ahead of the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). After naming the fully fit squad for the tournament, they have appointed the former New Zealand cricketer Grant Bradburn as their fielding coach. He was the head coach of Scotland earlier and will now be working with the Men in Green.
Bradburn was with Scotland for close to four years and the team did extremely well under his watchful eyes. They defeated England, the world’s number one team in ODIs, in the one-off game at home and earlier this year, very closely missed out on the World Cup qualification after playing like a dream in the qualifying tournament.
Bradburn happy to join Pakistan
According to Cricbuzz, Bradburn will join the Pakistan team for the Asia Cup straight away and it will be expected that he makes the difference in their fielding. They have been often guilty of poor fielding at crucial junctures but with the latest appointment of the Kiwi cricketer, the PCB has tried to address the issue. Even Bradburn was delighted to join the team and was looking forward to joining them.
“It is a great honour to be joining Pakistan Cricket Team and their high-quality coaching staff. I have seen the progress that has been made under Mickey Arthur and the opportunity to work with a leading full member team on the rise in world cricket, is a real privilege,” the 52-year-old said.
“Against Scotland in June, we saw the impressive changes that have been instilled, noticeably with the physical stature and fielding abilities of Pakistan’s players. I look forward to adding my experience to the players and staff while being an integral part of the exciting and dominant team, Team Pakistan is becoming,” he further added.
