Asia Cup 2018: Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shahzad console the sad Indian kid after the match
It was such a lovely gesture from Afghanistan cricketers.
India and Afghanistan played one of the most exhilarating ODIs in the history of Asia Cup. The game which was supposed to be a dead rubber ended up being the most interesting encounter of the tournament. The pendulum swung right through the chase as Afghanistan kept pegging India back with regular wickets. A tied game was a fitting result in the end but the Indian kid was left dejected and crying who was later consoled by Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shahzad.
After 99 overs of intriguing action, it all came down to India needing seven runs off the last over with Ravindra Jadeja on strike. Rashid had the ball in hand. But the experience worked again for the Men in Blue as the batsman slammed a much-needed boundary to bring the equation down to 1 run off last two balls.
However, Jadeja somehow managed to hit a pull shot in the air straight into the hands of Najibullah Zadran to end the match in an amazing tie.
Dejected kid
While the Indian fans were shocked over the result, there was jubilation in the other camp. They played brilliantly against the World number two side in the ODIs and proved that they are at the highest level to stay. However, one Indian kid in the stands didn’t like the way India gave away the winning position and the emotions got better of him.
The cameraman captured him crying dejectedly after the match ended. But when the cricketers were leaving for the hotel, the likes of Rashid and Shahzad were seen clicking selfies along with the same kid who was jubilant about the same. It was a great gesture from them as it only exemplifies strong strong cricketing relations between India and Afghanistan.
