Asia Cup 2018: Rashid Khan prays for Hardik Pandya's quick recovery
Pandya is likely to be ruled out of the tournament.
Team India shrugged off all the rustiness they showed against Hong Kong and put their best foot forward after coming out on the field to face their arch-rivals. The players looked charged up for the encounter and their opponents couldn’t handle the heat from the word go. Amidst all the action, Hardik Pandya suffered a horrific injury as he went down in pain while bowling and had to be stretchered off from the field.
While delivering the fifth over of his spell, the pace bowler lost his footing and in the process hurt his back. Earlier, the injury didn’t look serious but Pandya was not able to even stand on his own. Later it was revealed that it was an acute lower back injury and he might be ruled out of the tournament now. Though nothing is official as of yet, the news might come soon about the state of his injury.
Get well soon
The Indian fans were understandably worried about Hardik Pandya as Kedar Jadhav had to bowl his remaining overs. It was a blessing in disguise for the Men in Blue though as the latter went on to pick three important wickets to floor Pakistan. But going forward India will miss Pandya in both the departments.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan tweeted for Hardik after he came to know about his injury. He wished him luck to get well soon and also said that he will pray for his recovery. This superb gesture from one of the best players of the opposing teams has won the heart of the fans.
Rashid is known to have some great camaraderie with the Indian cricketers and his concern has proved it again. “@hardikpandya7 Bhai Get well soon will pray for your quick recovery,” his tweet read. As far as the Asia Cup is concerned, India will be facing Afghanistan on September 25 and it is expected to be a close contest as well.
