India have played like a champion team so far in the ongoing Asia Cup. They have won all their matches so far in the competition and are all set to face Pakistan in the crucial Super Four clash on Sunday. Their bowling attack has done the job in the last two matches and the batsmen have as usual been at their best chasing the totals. However, Saeed Ajmal feels that Rohit Sharma’s presence has made the difference for the Men in Blue who has led the team extremely well.
Rohit, apart from the game against Hong Kong, has looked proactive as the skipper. He has MS Dhoni up his sleeves who is always ready to help and knows how to handle various situations. Moreover, Rohit has been in top form with the bat and has scored a couple of half-centuries in his last two matches. Most importantly, he remained unbeaten against Bangladesh which it proves that a big knock from him is around the corner.
Openers have given a good start
Ahead of the second India-Pakistan in last four days, Saeed Ajmal, while speaking to Hindustan Times, was all praise of the Indian team and their clinical show in the tournament. He pointed out how they dealt with Hardik Pandya’s injury blow. The replacement player Ravindra Jadeja won the Man of the Match award who was not even in the original squad speaks volumes of the talent they possess.
“With Hardik Pandya being injured, Ravindra Jadeja came in against Bangladesh and look how well he adapted. The all-rounder starts off with 4 wickets in the game. This is what makes you sit up and take note. If you notice, India haven’t looked to play attacking cricket with the bat in hand,” he said.
Moreover, Ajmal was all about the captain Rohit Sharma on how he has handled the troops and led from the front with the bat. Also, the presence on Dhoni behind the stumps has made the difference for the team. “The openers have given the team a good start in all the games. Rohit has been top-class both with bat and as captain. And now you have an MS Dhoni who looked in good form against Bangladesh,” the former Pakistan cricketer added.
