India have thrashed Pakistan once again just like they did in the group stage and this win was more thumping given that they chased down 238 runs with utter ease without any fuss. The bowlers did their job yet again and it was a clinical performance from them despite the captain Rohit Sharma losing the toss.

It all started like a set template again. The openers of Pakistan Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq were more cautious this time around and probably this mindset caused them trouble from the word go. The latter was dismissed after looking decent off Yuzvendra Chahal and then it was his partner who got into mess while playing a sweep shot to Kuldeep Yadav only to be given leg before.

They messed up their decision to bat first when Babar Azam was run-out after a mix-up with his skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. At 58/3, it looked like yet another low-scoring damp squib, but Shoaib Malik came out and brought some sense to the proceedings. He joined hands with Sarfraz and stitched a 105-run partnership to bring Pakistan back in the contest. But they had to really accelerate to put India under any kind of pressure.

But both of them got out when it mattered the most and just when it felt like Pakistan will post a total of over 250, the wickets tumbled. In the end, they posted 237 runs for the loss of seven wickets and it was evident then, that they will have to bowl really well to win the game.

Indian openers thump Pakistan

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan didn’t really break a sweat when it came to the chase. Both of them literally annihilated the famed Pakistan bowling line-up and it was only once that they looked like taking a wicket. Shaheen Afridi rolled his fingers over a cross-seamed delivery to lure Rohit into a drive after which the ball went into the air only for Imam to drop a sitter.

It was all one-way traffic since then as both took their time and easily manoeuvred the ball at will. It never felt like the opponents were in the game. They walked to their centuries with no fuss at all and Dhawan literally blew away them after reaching the milestone. Rohit also completed his 7,000 ODI runs in his career as Team India sealed their place in the final with a resounding nine-wicket win.
