Asia Cup 2022: Bangladesh Squad and Schedule

With their eyes on the gold, the Bangla Tigers will begin their Asia Cup campaign on 30th of August against Afghanistan. With a very poor record in the T20Is lately, things will not be easy for Bangladesh in the group of death. Two of the three teams will qualify for the super fours as the team will play Sri Lanka on 1st of September. After losing the T20I series against Zimbabwe, Khaled Mahmud, the team director of the Bangladesh team expressed his disappointment and anger on many of his players. Some changes were very much expected but many were surprised to see the team announcing Shakib Al Hasan as their new captain. The all-rounder has immense experience of T20 cricket and has done very well for Bangladesh in the past. His performance in the 2019 ODI World Cup is probably one of the best from a Bangladeshi. Thus, the 35-year-old is reappointed as the captain of the side to bring back the lost glory of the country. They are known for fighting until the end and that might help them in the tournament going forward. They have played the finals of the 2012, 2016 and 2018 but are yet to win their maiden title.
