Whenever India and Pakistan clash- it has to be a high-pressure game, it has to be a thrilling entertainer. And the second match of the Asia Cup 2022 gave all the thrills and chills to cricket fans all over the world. Be it the bowling department, or the batting bit, Indian players were on a roll as they took on Pakistan.

India won the contest by five wickets, thanks to Hardik Pandya’s cool and calm game with both the bat and the ball. After picking up three wickets in the first innings, Pandya went on to score the winning runs for India and bagged the crucial runs under pressure, at a moment when it looked like the game had slipped from India’s hands.

Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder duo in the team, anchored India’s innings almost till the end as they shared a 52-run stand for the fifth wicket before the game came down to the final over. With seven runs needed off the final six deliveries, Mohammad Nawaz struck on the very first ball of the last over to dismiss Jadeja, which brought in wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik on strike.

Karthik took a single off the second ball of the over and gave the strike to Hardik Pandya who was in great form throughout the game and was doing most of the scoring bit. Pandya could not strike the ball on the third delivery, and when Karthik looked for a single, Pandya looked at him and did a cool gesture to ask Karthik to go back and stay at his place.

Pandya’s confidence got the cricketing world talking

Pandya’s expression grabbed the eyeballs as the all-rounder showed great grit and confidence in the battle of nerves, when India required six off the final three deliveries. Pandya’s reaction looked like he had something big planned as he opted to retain the strike. Nawaz bowled the fourth delivery and Pandya smashed a massive six to seal the deal and clinch a massive win for India.

The Men in Blue looked to plot the perfect act of revenge as they had the T20 World Cup loss in the back of their minds, just like every Indian cricket fan. Team India was successful in giving Pakistan a befitting reply, and Pandya, who finished scoring an unbeaten 17-ball 33*, was surely the hero of the match for displaying a classy, stylish game and also for fulfilling every Indian cricket fan’s wish.
