Once again UAE put on a good show with the ball but it was their batting which led them down in hunt of mere targets in consecutive games in the ongoing Asia Cup at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

After winning the toss yet again, UAE invited Bangladesh to bat first. The hosts got off to a good start scoring 70 for the loss of 1 wicket after 9 overs. It was the UAE spinners again, who slowed down the things and picked up wickets in middle overs. Mohammad Mithun got out after scoring a 47. Mahmudullah’s blitz towards end powered Bangladesh to finish on 133/8.

The other night, the Sri Lanka captain Lasith Malinga struck early for his side, while it was Mashrafe Mortaza who gave crucial top order wickets of UAE. The associate nation kept losing wickets. Muhammad Osman top scoring with 30 helped his side to avoid their lowest T20I total. The UAE were finally bowled out for 82 without playing 20 overs, falling 52 runs short of the target. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.

1 – This is the first time where Bangladesh has bowled out a team in 2nd innings of a T20I.

2 – This was only the 2nd instance where captains of both the sides didn’t bat in the top 6 in a T20I match. Sri Lanka-UAE game was interestingly the first instance.

3 – This was only the 3rd instance where a team won by a margin of over 50 runs despite posting 135 or lesser while batting first. Other 2 instances were Sri Lanka winning by 59 runs after posting 119 vs New Zealand in 2014 while Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 50 runs after scoring 135 during a T20I in 2011.

4 – Mashrafe Mortaza became the 4th full member nation captain and 7th in overall to take 3 or more catches in a T20I as fielder.

27 – Amjad Javed became the 27th captain in international cricket to be dismissed hit wicket. Among the associate nations, he is only the 3rd captain to be dismissed hit wicket. When coming to T20Is, only Mohammad Hafeez got dismissed hit wicket as captain.
