Ateeq Javid will join Leicestershire at the end of this season. The right-hand batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler made his first class debut in 2009. While he played his first List A game in 2011. The 25-year old, who has scored 2,117 runs and claimed 57 wickets across all three formats of the game, has signed a two-year deal at Grace Road.
“I want to thank everyone who has helped my development over the years,” Javid told the club website. “The time is right to make a move, fight for a place and hopefully play regular cricket across all formats.” Birmingham-born Javid climbed up the stairs through the Warwickshire youth system and helped the Bears win the T20 Blast in 2014, taking the prized scalp of Kevin Pietersen against Surrey in the semi-final.

He also picked 2-15 in the Bears’ eight-wicket victory in the One-Day Cup final at Lord’s in 2016. Leicestershire CCC Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said: Ateeq will strengthen our batting in all competitions, he offers a very useful off-spin option, and is an excellent fielder too. We have been following Ateeq’s progress for some time and are delighted to welcome him to the club.
Parkinson extends his contract
Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Callum Parkinson has extended his contract with the Foxes for one more year. The 20-year-old has inked a deal with the club until the end of the 2019 season. Parikson has played 7 first class matches and scored 157 runs and took 17 wickets by bowling his left-arm slower ones. He has played just one List A game and has picked up a wicket. Parikson made his debut last season and had an impressive time with the ball till now. He scored a 75 with the bat a few days back against Kent. It was also the highest score of his career so far.
