The final Test match at the Gabba is set for an exciting finish as India ended the 4th day on 4/0 in pursuit of the 328-run target. Australia began the day aggressively with an 89-run opening stand before both David Warner (48) and Marcus Harris (39) departed in successive overs. Steve Smith scored 55 from 74 balls with seven boundaries but Mohammed Siraj (5/73) kept taking wickets along with Shardul Thakur (4/61) to unsettle the Australian innings. The home team eventually got bowled out for 294 amidst the rain which washed out more than half of the final session.

Indians pick all 20 wickets:

1988 – Indian bowlers shared all 20 wickets of Australia in this Test between them which is the first instance of visiting bowlers claiming 20 wickets at the Gabba since West Indies in the 1988 Test. The Test match in 1988 was interestingly the last instance of Australia losing a Test in Brisbane.

Siraj’s maiden 5-fer:

5/73 – Mohammed Siraj’s 5/73 in the second innings are now the 4th best bowling figures for India in Test cricket at the Gabba. Siraj is also only the 5th Indian with a fifer in Test cricket in Brisbane and the first since Zaheer Khan (5/95) in 2003.

A series to remember for Siraj:

2011 – Mohammad Siraj’s 12 wickets in this Test series are the most by any Indian in this 4-match Test series against Australia. The last Indian bowler to finish as the team’s leading wicket-keeper in the debut Test series was Ravichandran Ashwin against West Indies in the 2011 home Test series. The last Indian pacer before Siraj with his feat was

5 – Mohammed Siraj’s 5-wicket haul to wrap up Australia’s innings was the lone 5-wicket haul in this series for India. Siraj, thus became only the 5th Indian who took the only 5-wicket haul recorded by the team in the debut Test series. Mohammad Nissar (vs ENG, 1932 – India’s Test debut), Vaman Kumar (vs PAK, 1961), Ravi Shastri (vs NZ, 1981), and Venkatesh Prasad (vs ENG, 1996) are the other four players with this feat.

Shardul’s all-round treble:

1 – Shardul Thakur became the first Indian to score 60+ runs, pick 7+ wickets and take 2+ catches in the same match in Men’s Test cricket. Shubhangi Kulkarni affected this treble for India in a Women’s Test match against New Zealand in 1985.

Warner @ 15000:

15031 – David Warner became only the 8th player to aggregate 15000 runs in International cricket when he went past his individual score of 17 in the 2nd innings. A total of 7934 runs out of the 15031 International runs by Warner came on Australian soil which is 5th most by any player.

A good game in the field for Rohit:

5 – Rohit Sharma became only the 2nd Indian fielder to claim five or more catches in a Test match on Australian soil. Kris Srikkanth also took five catches during the 1992 Perth Test match against the hosts.

Rohit is also the 4th fielder to claim five or more catches in a Test match at the Gabba. Stephen Fleming (6 for NZ in 1997), Sam Loxton (5 vs ENG in 1990) and Mark Taylor (5 vs NZ in 1997) are the other such players.
