'Australia need to know who their top order is' - Wasim Jaffer hilariously trolls Brad Hogg after latter's remarks on Indian batsmen

Former Indian batsman and IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) batting coach Wasim Jaffer was involved in a war of words with Australia’s former wrist-spinner Brad Hogg as the latter made a remark on India’s top-order batting line-up playing in the three-day day-night warm-up against Australia A from December 11 to December 13 at Sydney Cricket Ground.

Winning the toss, India elected to bat first in the second warm-up Test game against Australia. It was a bad day at the office for the batsmen in the first innings as India’s top-order comprising Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, and Shubman Gill went back to the pavilion after putting up 102 runs on the board. Though Shaw and Gill had shown character and determination to bring runs for their team by scoring 40 and 43 runs respectively, they couldn’t convert their innings into a big knock.

While batting in the second innings, Gill and Mayank redeemed themselves as they played a sublime knock of 65 and 61 runs respectively. However, Parthiv failed to contribute as he lost his wicket in the second over while playing at 3. Seeing the dismissals of India’s top-order batsmen, the veteran wrist-spinner advised the players to learn to leave the ball off a good length and not chase it by moving away outside the off stump.

Brad Hogg has a piece of advice for India’s top-order

“Indian top order need to know where their off stump is, learn to leave the ball off a good length, and not chase the ball moving away outside off stump,” Brad Hogg tweeted.

However, former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer didn’t like the Australian veteran pointing faults in Indian players. Thus, he took a sly dig at Hogg saying that before advising India, Australia should decide who would open the innings for them in the four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy, starting from December 17 in Adelaide.

With this remark, Jaffer pointed out the injuries sustained by the number of Australian opening batsmen in recent times. Both David Warner and Will Pucovski who were in contention to open the innings for Australia have been ruled out of the first Test against India. Warner had suffered a groin injury while playing the white-ball format. Pucovski, on the other hand, suffered a concussion while featuring in the first practice game against India A.
