Australia won the toss and for the first time in the series decided to bat first. Both the teams had a change or two to make in their starting XI. The Aussies brought in off-spinner Nathan Lyon in place of Scott Boland as David Warner returned in his spot and Shaun Marsh despite batting well in the 2 ODIs he featured in had to sit out.
Team India switched left-arm pacer Barinder Sran with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and retained the rest of the team that played the 3rd match.
