However, Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins stepped up to the occasion, forging a remarkable partnership of 202 runs that turned the tide of the match.Maxwell, in particular, produced an extraordinary innings, scoring 201 runs off just 128 balls. His knock was adorned with 21 fours and 10 sixes, showcasing his explosive batting prowess. Cummins, too, played a pivotal role in the partnership, contributing 12 runs from 68 balls.Australia's resilience paid off as they eventually clinched victory by three wickets with 19 balls to spare. Glenn Maxwell's heroics with the bat and the ball (1 wicket for 55 runs) earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match award.

Other than Australia and Afghanistan, the Group A of the Super 12 also has England and New Zealand. The winners of Group A (Group Stage) and the runners-up of Group B (Group Stage) will join them in the main round of the T20 World Cup. The top two teams in the T20 World Cup points table of Group A will qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.
Group B of the 12 will feature India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa and the runners-up of group A (Group Stage) and the runners-up of Group B (Group B). The tournament is all set to start on the 16th of October, with Sri Lanka challenging Namibia at Kardinia Park Stadium at Geelong. The main round of the competition, that is Super 12 will begin on the 22nd of October at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground where Australia will start their campaign against New Zealand, the finalist of last season.
