All the major stats and numbers that were recorded during the 3rd day’s play in Perth.
India missed out on the chance of gaining a crucial first-innings lead in the Perth Test as they collapsed after the dismissal of Virat Kohli. India went down from 251/5 to 283 all out and hence conceded a lead of 43 runs to the hosts after Kohli departed for a hard-fought 123. In the second essay, Indian bowlers were not properly rewarded for their good bowling. Contributions from their top three helped Australia to end the day on 132/4 on a pitch where chasing 200+ will be tough.

Pant goes past Dhoni and co:
15 – Number of dismissals Rishabh Pant has effected in this series thus far. These are the most number of dismissals made by an Indian wicketkeeper in a Test series against Australia.
Syed Kirmani (1979), MS Dhoni (2013 & 2014/15) and Wriddhiman Saha (2017) have 14 dismissals in the series against the Aussies. Pant went past all even before completion of the second innings in second game of this 4-match series.
A middle-order stability:
8/2 – India’s total of 8/2 is the lowest total from which India had fifty-plus stands for 3rd, 4th and 5th wickets in a Test inning. India had 50+ partnerships for the 3rd, 4th and 5th wicket. The previous lowest score was 9/2 in the second innings of the 1949 Mumbai Test against the Windies.
