Gilchrist praises young Pant

Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Gilchrist said that 21-year-old is a real treat to watch and he would happily pay to watch him bat. The Delhi batsman has not only showed that he can bat aggressively but has also displayed his ability to build the innings and bat with patience, as he did during the 159-run unbeaten knock at the SCG.
“He played a beautiful innings today, it was entertaining. He’s a cricketer that I would happily pay to watch,” Gilchrist while talking on Fox Sports.
The Aussie great feels that Pant is still young and has a lot of potential in him. His recent performances have certainly made sure he is the preferred keeper for India at least in Tests. “He’s a cricketer that is at the start of his journey so he’ll learn these particular parts of the game and he’ll learn that there’s always more time than what you think, but he’s got a great foundation to be a successful Test cricketer,” Gilchrist said.
Team India finished day two with a mammoth total of 622/7 declared. Pujara unlucky missed a double century as he was dismissed on 193. The other major contribution was from Pant who scored his career-best score and partnered with Ravindra Jadeja (81) in a 200-run stand.
