Team India’s Test series against Australia hasn’t begun on an auspicious note despite winning the toss on a batting strip in Adelaide. But their top-order including Virat Kohli has blown away a chance to rake runs. They were reduced to 41/4 in close to 20 overs as Ajinkya Rahane was the latest casualty. However, amidst all the harakiri from the visitors what grabbed everyone’s attention was Rahane’s special bat.
He used the willow with the cricketing legend and the current India A and U19 coach Rahul Dravid‘s sign over it. Dravid had written, ‘Best Wishes’ for India’s vice-captain before the series as they were together in New Zealand for the first of the three unofficial Tests. The selectors had sent some of the Test specialists to the Kiwi country in order to get hold of the similar conditions on offer Down Under.
Rahane played with the same bat and looked absolutely assured during his brief stay at the crease before playing an ugly shot to get out and leave India in a mire. Meanwhile, when he was batting, the paparazzi managed to grab a picture of his bat with Dravid’s sign over it.

Poor form continues for Rahane
However, those words of wisdom in New Zealand and a special wish from Dravid didn’t work for Ajinkya Rahane. He could only muster 13 runs off 31 balls despite looked good while he was out there in the middle. His dismissal left India reeling at 41/4 in the first session. Though since then, Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara have batted well and not allowed the opposition to dominate them.
Rohit, especially, has been impressive as he has batted with authority smashing two sixes and playing calculative strokes. India will be hoping that these two continue to bat as the pitch is extremely flat and help the team post a decent total on the board.
