Team India has never toured Australia with so much limelight. Not that the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid among many legends were under-rated, but the media used to be all over them with aggression to unsettle the team ahead of the series. But this time it is different. It is all about the Indian captain Virat Kohli down under at the moment and there are no mind games either being played by the media nor by the former and current cricketers.
Kohli’s arrival in the country has turned on the festive mood it seems as the media is exclusively covering his net sessions as well. One would wonder when did the last time the opposition enjoyed such a luxury in Australia. The hosts know that they aren’t the powerhouse anymore that they used to be and the ball-tampering debacle is still fresh in their minds which is the reason even Cricket Australia (CA) is trying to make the most of this ‘Indian’ summer.
Ahead of the series opener, Virat Kohli, away from all the glory, is sweating it out in the nets and even there too the paparazzi captured him batting at a completely different level.
Flawless net session
Cricket Network in Australia covered Virat Kohli batting in the nets and prepared a video out of it in which India’s premier batsman hasn’t missed even a single delivery. He middled all the shots and that too with utmost authority. Kohli stepped out to hit the spinners out of the ground while comfortably tackling the bouncers with a pull shot or a smart leave.
Watching him batting even in the nets was also a privilege for the fans and the media covering the preparations of both the team. The video soon went viral on Tuesday and the cricketers around the world were in awe of the 29-year-old. They lauded him for his dedication and felt that he will be the danger man for Australia in the Test series where the hosts, probably for the first time, are not the favourites.
