India will be touring Australia later this year in November for 3 T20Is followed by four Tests and 3 One-Day Internationals. This tour is the best chance for the Virat Kohli-led side to register their first series win ever down under as the hosts will be without the services of Steve Smith and David Warner. However, Glenn McGrath wants the Aussie pace trio to have a full go at the Indians and has urged the selectors to prepare pitches with pace and bounce.

The likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, if fit, are hostile in any conditions and are proven match-winners. But the fact that the wickets during the summer in Australia are flat most of the times make their job harder. India last visited the country in 2014 when Virat Kohli had smashed four centuries in four matches and had pummelled the Aussie bowlers with authority.

We should put pressure on Kohli

Glenn McGrath was critical of the curators for preparing flat pitches while speaking in a function in Sydney. He believed that Australia’s bowling attack is extremely good but they will struggle if the pitches are flat. “The bowling attack we have with the three quicks and Nathan Lyon, it could really put some pressure on their boys. The problem is the pitches are pretty flat. Last time they were here, they were very flat. The drop-in pitches are just too good. They don’t change over five days,” he was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

He was also of the opinion that Team India depends on Virat Kohli a lot to score big runs and felt that they should pressure on him during the tour. However, the Pigeon also went on to say that he would like to see the pitches with pace and bounce during the Test series.

“India’s batting line-up is their strength, led by Kohli … I want to see the Australians put pressure on Kohli and see how he handles it. When we go to India we get a turning track and that’s what you’d expect. When any team comes to Australia, it should be quicker and bouncier tracks,” he added.
