Australia vs India: Injury concern for Mitchell Starc ahead of the crucial 5th Day of Brisbane Test

The fourth and final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy is interestingly poised. Australia have set a target of 328 for India and will have around 98 overs to bowl them out. But the hosts will also have to fight the odds with the rain gods who are most likely to make their presence felt during the second session on Tuesday. They will be hoping for their bowling attack to come hard at India and pick 10 wickets as soon as possible.

But their ace pacer Mitchell Starc is possibly carrying an injury. He was seen grabbing his hamstring after delivering the first over in the second innings and that must have left Australia worried. However, Steve Smith has backed the left-arm pacer to bowl through the injury and get the job done.

He also stressed the fact that Starc has bowled with an injury before while hoping that he will be fit in time to bowl on the final day of the series. “I saw the same thing when he was walking back, he was grabbing at his right hamstring.

“I’m sure he’ll get it assessed by the medical staff and one thing I know about Mitchell is he’s tough and he’s played through some injuries before and got the job done. He’ll be hopefully good to go,” Smith said according to The Courier Mail.

Pat Cummins also hit on the elbow

World’s No.1 Test bowler Pat Cummins also didn’t take the field in the second innings which left the Australian fans concerned. He was hit on the elbow off Mohammed Siraj as one of the deliveries deviated a lot after hitting the crack in the middle of the pitch. Though Cummins continued to bat after that, it seems to have hurt him as he was seen sitting in the dugout and the injury didn’t seem to be serious.

He was supposedly set to take the field soon but the rain arrived to spoil Australia’s plans of getting an early breakthrough to put India under pressure. Australia will need their four bowlers fully fit to script a memorable series win on Tuesday.
