With Rohit Sharma going on paternity leave, KL Rahul was roped back into the side to prove his critics wrong, but once again he failed to do anything significant. The Indians fans were palpably angry and they are calling for him to be dropped from the side soon after this series. Rahul has registered only one 40+ score in the entire series.
His fellow Karnataka cricketer Mayank Agarwal managed to seize his opportunity with a couple of fifties in the first three innings of his career. He showed great temperament and mixed caution with aggression brilliantly. Despite getting out to a rash shot at the SCG, which disallowed him a well-deserved hundred, he is being hailed as a great long-term prospect at the top of the order for the country.
It is difficult for people to understand what exactly went wrong with Rahul in recent times. When he broke into the International circuit, it was pretty evident that he was going to be the next big thing in Indian cricket but his career has taken some bad turns and is currently struggling to book his berth in the World Cup squad.
Poor run across all formats
His form off-late in all formats has been pretty underwhelming. After a sensational IPL campaign with Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 edition, KL Rahul’s career took the downward slope. Despite failing miserably in England, he scored a great hundred at The Oval and showed glimpses of what he is capable of.
But the Windies Tests which followed, where every other batsman was scoring runs for fun, Rahul registered a couple of single-digit scores and disappointed yet again. With the emergence of Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal, this might be a temporary goodbye to Test cricket for the 26-year-old.
A lot of cricketers in the past have faced these situations or phases where they had no runs to prove themselves, but a sacking here can do his career a world of good. Keeping all the things aside, the cameramen once again caught some hilarious reactions from the dressing room involving Kohli and Rahul, which set social media on fire with sensational memes.
Here are some memes which should definitely make your day:
