Australia vs India: KL Rahul rejoices Mayank Agarwal's Test debut moment
Mayank Agarwal became the 295th Test player for India.
Team India, 24 hours ahead of the third Test against Australia, decided to handover an international debut to Mayank Agarwal who replaced Prithvi Shaw in the squad. They dropped both the struggling openers KL Rahul and Murali Vijay and promoted Hanuma Vihari to assist Agarwal at the top. The 27-year-old was handed over his Test cap by the skipper Virat Kohli moments before the game started.
Agarwal, in a way, replaced his Karnataka teammate Rahul in the line-up and impressed straightaway showing nerves of steel against the likes of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. Moreover, he looked confident during his stay at the crease and didn’t let the occasion get over his mind. Mayank continued in the same vein as he played for India A in New Zealand recently and smacked a half-century in his first outing for his country.
He was dismissed after scoring 76 runs just when a three-figure score was there for the taking. Pat Cummins strangled the 295th Test player for India down the leg-side to cut short his impressive stay in the middle.
Rahul happy for his friend
Meanwhile, KL Rahul has expressed his elation as his best friend Mayank Agarwal made his international debut. He was happy and proud to see him play for the country and hoped that he will only improve and play well from here on to bring laurels to India. Rahul posted the pictures of the cap awarding ceremony in which he hugged Agarwal expressing his happiness for him.
“Seeing my Best Friend getting his cap and debuting for the Country makes me so happy and proud today. 👑🤗
Upwards and Onwards my brother, you’re just getting started Monkus. #295,” Rahul’s message for the debutant read.
It is good to see that Rahul applauded Agarwals effort despite the fact that he was dropped for this Test and wished him all the luck in his career.
