Rishabh Pant for once converted a start he got in the ongoing Test series against Australia to help India to post a mammoth score in Sydney. In all the previous six innings in this series, Pant scored 25 and more runs but got out before crossing 40. However, in the Sydney Test, the young keeper-batsman scored an unbeaten 159 to see India through to a 600+ total. He shared an 89-run stand with Cheteshwar Pujara and a record 204-run partnership for the 7th wicket with Ravindra Jadeja.

1 – Rishabh Pant is the first wicketkeeper from Asia to score over 200 runs and affect 20 dismissals in a Test series. Overall, only five other keepers have scored 350 runs and affected 20 dismissals in a single series in whites.
1 – Pant is also the first Indian keeper to score a Test century in Australia. The previous highest score by an Indian keeper in Australia was 89 by Farokh Engineer in the 1967 Adelaide Test.
1 – Rishabh Pant is also the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a 150+ score in Test cricket away from home. The previous highest individual Test score by an Indian keeper outside India was MS Dhoni’s 148 in the 2006 Faisalabad Test against Pakistan. Overall, Pant’s unbeaten 159 is the 3rd highest individual score by an Indian keeper.
2 – This was Pant’s second century away from home making him the first Indian wicketkeeper to score more than one century outside India. Four other keepers have scored an away hundred in Test cricket for India. Pant scored 114 at The Oval which was the first century in England and in the first 4th innings Test hundred by an Indian keeper.
2 – With centuries in England and Australia, Pant became only the 2nd wicketkeeper in Test history to score hundreds as a visiting player in both England and Australia. Windies’ Jeff Dujon was the first to cross the three-figure mark in this format as a visiting keeper in both the countries
21y 91d – Age at which Rishabh Pant came into this Test match. He is the youngest keeper to score a 150 in Test cricket. The previous youngest was Tatenda Taibu who made 153 going into the 2005 Dhaka Test against Bangladesh at the age of 21 years and 245 days.
22 – Pant is also the first wicketkeeper with multiple Test tons before the 22nd birthday. Only three other keepers have scored a century before turning 22 in this format.
159* – Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 159 is the 2nd highest score by a visiting player in Australia behind AB de Villiers’ 169 in the 2012 Perth Test. Brad Haddin’s 169 in the 2008 Adelaide Test against New Zealand and Ian Healy’s 161* against the Windies in the 1996 Brisbane Test have been recorded by the home team players. These four are the only 150+ Test scores recorded by keepers in Australia.
159* – Pant’s 159* is the joint highest individual score by an Asian keeper outside Asia in the longer format. Mushfiqur Rahim also scored 159 in the 2017 Wellington Test against New Zealand.
350 – Pant’s 350 runs in this series are the most by any Indian wicketkeeper away from home. He went past MS Dhoni’s 349-run tally during the 2014 five-match Test series in England.
