Australia have sneaked ahead in the ongoing Perth Test. The skipper Tim Paine and Usman Khawaja kept the Indians at bay in the first session as the visitors failed to pick a wicket for the second time in the morning in this game. This has clearly spurred Virat Kohli who loves to be in the game as he tried to get into his counterpart’s head. However, Paine also didn’t back away and responded and Shane Warne is loving the tussle between them.
India were hoping to skittle the hosts as soon as possible but the overnight batsmen have shown amazing grit and determination to guts it out in the middle. The pitch is extremely tough to bat on and though India haven’t shown the same kind of intensity, they troubled both at some point. But unfortunately, luck is with the team which is ahead at the moment.
During the first session, Kohli was seen being involved in a banter with Paine as both converged on the field as well with the umpire Chris Gaffaney tried to intervene. He reminded the duo that they are the captains and should prefer playing the game in right spirits.
Warne loves the banter
Meanwhile, Shane Warne is all praise of Paine for leading from the front on the tough wicket and believes that this innings will also make Usman Khawaja a different player. The left-hander has batted so well and is approaching a yet another century in the second innings. Warne also liked the way Kohli was trying to up the tension in the middle.
“Great session of cricket for Australia. Love seeing both batsman fight hard & not throw their wickets away, but tough it out. Very impressed with Tim Paine on all levels. The Indian skipper he’s box office & good for the game. Lastly, this innings will be the making of Khawaja,” he tweeted.
