The Australian skipper Tim Paine has been in the thick of the things in the ongoing Test series against India. While he was in the limelight for asking Rishabh Pant to babysit his kids during a stump mic chatter, now he has received a reporter’s phone call during the presser at the end of day’s play.
After a tough day at the office on the field, Paine led from the front to address the media in order to answer some tough questions. India piled on the agony for the hosts amassing 622 runs for the loss of seven on the back of scintillating centuries from Rishabh Pant (159*) and Cheteshwar Pujara (193). In a way, they have almost ensured that the history will be created at the end of this Test.
Hilarious Incident
After enduring one of the worst days of Test cricket, Tim Paine was supposed to answer some serious questions. When he was about to respond suddenly the phone of one of the reporters Martin started ringing which was kept on the table to record the answers. To everyone’s surprise, the Aussie skipper picked up the phone and started talking to the person on the other side.
He also advised him/her to call a little bit later as Martin was in the middle of the press conference. Moreover, Paine also asked the person if he had to pass on any message upon which Martin was told to check his email as soon as possible. Paine’s actions were unexpected as all present in the room started laughing.
“Whose phone is that? Tim Paine speaking (Answering the call). Who is it Sorry? Oh, Ok. Who are you after? Casey in Hong Kong. Oh Martin! Oh Alright. He’s in the middle of a press conference. Can I get him to call you back? Alright, no worries. I’ll tell him to check his emails. Alright, thanks Casey, cheers,” Paine said while speaking on the phone.
