Australia vs India: Twitter hilariously urges Ravi Shastri to come out of retirement after Ravindra Jadeja and Pant get injured
Jadeja has been ruled out of the series while Pant will only bat if needed in the ongoing Sydney Test.
Team India isn’t having the best of times in Australia as many players have been plagued with injury. The pace sensation Ishant Sharma didn’t travel with the team to Australia as he had sustained an injury during the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
The first Test against Australia in Adelaide saw India losing the services of their another pace mainstay Mohammed Shami as he incurred a fracture on his bowling arm while batting. This was followed by Umesh Yadav returning back to India after getting injured during the second Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground. KL Rahul also suffered an injury while practicing in the nets.
The Men in Blue aren’t having an ideal outing in the third Test against Australia too as the two Indian players again got injured. Also, Australia have taken an edge over India as they produced a comprehensive show in all the three facets of the game be it bowling, batting, or fielding.
Telling blows to India
As far as the ongoing Test is concerned, the toss went in the favour of Tim Paine and he elected to bat first. Australia managed to rack up a massive total of 338 runs on the board as Steve Smith played a remarkable knock of 131 runs off 226 deliveries. In reply, India were bundled out for a mere score of 244 as Pat Cummins emerged as a wrecker-in-chief for his team by scalping four wickets.
The Day 3 of the Sydney Test gave a couple of setbacks to the team as both Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja had to go out of the field after sustaining injuries and were taken for a scan. While Pant was hit on his elbow by a delivery from Pat Cummins, Jadeja took a blow on his left thumb while facing a bouncer from Mitchell Starc. Jadeja has even got ruled out of the series now and isn’t available for the rest of the Sydney Test.
The scenario of the Indian players getting injured one after the other left the cricket fans bemused and they came up with hilarious memes and trolls. Taking a dig at the team’s situation, many fans reckoned that now the only option left for the visiting nation is to include head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and batting coach Vikram Rathour into the XI for the final game in Brisbane, starting from January 15.
