Cricket Australia always picks Sydney to host the New Year Test and it is also termed the ‘Pink Test‘. In this game, even the home side wear Pink caps instead of the usual Baggy Greens to lend the support to Glenn McGrath’s foundation to fight against the Breast Cancer. A lot of people also donate the money during the game and all the funds are used in the treatment of the ones struggling with the disease.

While the whole the SCG turned Pink on the occasion, even the Indian skipper Virat Kohli did his bit. He turned up with his batting kit in Pink in the middle when India’s score was 126/2 to show his support towards the noble cause. Kohli’s gloves had a pink mark on it while his bat grip also was of the same colour. Moreover, his shoes and the bat sticker were also turned Pink as he won the heart of the people present in the Stadium.

The tradition of the Pink Test began in 2009 after Glenn McGrath‘s wife Jane lost her battle with breast and bone cancer. This is when the former Australian pacer took up the responsibility on himself to raise awareness about the same and the New Year Test is dedicated for the same with the fans also asked to wear Pink and donate generously.

Kohli endures a rare failure

Virat Kohli, in his noble avatar, could only score 23 runs and was strangled down the leg-side by Josh Hazlewood. Though he didn’t look in much trouble during his 59-ball stay in the crease and was rather unlucky. Cheteshwar Pujara did his job and continued his great run in the series scoring his third century in seven innings. India ended the day on 303/4 with their number three unbeaten on 130 and Hanuma Vihari also looking solid on 37.
