Australia players were frustrated after being served the overheated grilled chicken by the officials of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). The visitors were already miffed as they had to practice indoor as the incessant rains forced to cancel the practice sessions ahead of the game. The forecast for the second match between India and Australia at Eden Gardens is not so great as rain has been predicted all day.
Australia, on the other hand, would desperately want to level the series in Kolkata after being 0-1 down. The first match was also curtailed to 21 overs in the second innings after India posted 281/7 in their 50 overs. Persistent rains welcomed the teams on Monday in the city of joy and the chances of the match getting washed out are more given the frequency of rain predicted on Thursday.
The pitch and the ground are covered perfectly
The CAB official informed CricketNext about the overheated chicken being served to the visiting side despite the fact that the team management had conveyed their requirement in advance. However, he also said that the matters were under control before anything ugly could have transpired.
“The Australian players were not too happy when they came to realise that the grilled chicken served to them had been cooked at a temperature above the prescribed 73-degree centigrade. They had already made their requirement known in advance and the fact that it wasn’t followed did not go down too well with them. It took some cajoling before they calmed down. But things are now under control and the cook has been told not to repeat the mistake,” the official said.
Sourav Ganguly, the CAB president has been overlooking all the things ahead of the second ODI on Thursday. He inspected the conditions and was seen giving instructions while the ground remained under cover.
“The pitch and ground conditions is just perfect. It’s an ideal condition what’s required for an One-Day International contest but I cannot say whether it will rain or not,” said the curator Sujan Mukherjee.
