Joe Root was struck on the ‘box’ by a deadly delivery from Australian left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc on Day 4 of the 2nd Ashes Test match between Australia and England at the Adelaide Oval.

And, after that blow, Joe Root continued batting. The England skipper flicked a delivery through the leg side and ran a couple. But, Root was seen limping after the blow. And, the commentators on air chose to see the funny side of this incident.

All three commentators, including former Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting, were seen having a good laugh at the expense of Root. You can see the video below.

Twitter is not happy with the commentators for laughing at Joe Root

And, the Twitter world is not happy with the way the commentators laughed at Joe Root. One fan felt that Root had run in an awkward manner because of pain, and there was no need for the commentators to mock him.

Another fan felt that Root was batting on despite injury, but the commentators were busy cracking a joke. While another fan felt that only people in Australia saw the funny side of things, another tweeted that the commentators need to show some respect to Root. All in all, the fans are surely not happy with the way the commentators reacted to Root’s injury.

Joe Root was dismissed for 24 in the second innings of the 2nd Ashes Test match. Australia hammered England by 275 runs in the 2nd Test to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. The two teams will meet again for the 3rd Ashes Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The 3rd rubber will commence on 26th December 2021.
