The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) finally put rest to all the speculations by releasing the much-awaited schedule of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) on September 6 (Sunday). Due to the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in India, the tournament was delayed and has now been moved out of the country.

The world’s most lucrative league will commence from September 19, with the final to take place on November 10 across three venues namely Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

The inaugural match of the T20 Championship will be played between the three-time champion Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Mumbai Indians in the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The league stage of the 2020 edition would cap off with Mumbai Indians taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad on November 3 in Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.

BCCI shared the official IPL 2020 anthem on Twitter

Along with the schedule, the official Twitter handle of the Indian Premier League also released the anthem for this edition of the cash-rich league. The 1 minute 33 seconds anthem is titled as ‘ayenge hum wapas’. The anthem is very peppy and catchy and perfectly captures the mood of the nation.

The song encapsulates that the nation is trying to make a comeback in the world of cricket after a long unexpected break due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The video features all the legends of the game including the likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and many more.

Sharing the video on twitter, IPL wrote, “The greater the setback. The stronger the comeback. We can sum it up in 3 words: AayengeHumWapas, Watch #Dream11IPL starting Sept 19 on @DisneyPlusHS, @StarSportsIndia @Hotstarusa #Dream11IPL #AayengeHumWapas #StrongerTogether  #Anthem”

It was speculated that the IPL schedule would be out in August end but after the 13 members of the CSK contingent including pacer Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the BCCI had to make some changes in the schedule. Also, the Chennai Super Kings started training again for the league after completing their extended quarantine period on September 4 (Friday).
