'Ayush Badoni has surprised me' - Parthiv Patel names his breakout performer in IPL 2022
Ayush Badoni has been one of the finds of IPL 2022.
The IPL 2022 has witnessed some exceptional performances on the cricket field where some of the seasoned campaigners are currently having a dream run. While Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal are dominating in the Orange and Purple Cap lists respectively, many of the uncapped talents including the likes of Umran Malik, Ayush Badoni, Tilak Varma, etc. have also made an identity for themselves.
Former wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel is really impressed with Badoni for having made a tremendous impact for Lucknow Super Giants The youngster made a good first impression right in his first game against Gujarat Titans scoring an impactful 54. That might not have turned out to be a match-winning knock but, it was a great inning under pressure after LSG suffered an early top-order collapse.
Ayush Badoni has showcased many qualities in a recent while, says Parthiv Patel
“Ayush Badoni has surprised me. We have seen a lot of things in a lot of matches that he is surprised a lot in a placid way by hitting good sixes, finishing games, his special way of handling the situation and for that, I pick Ayush Badoni”, said Parthiv Patel while speaking to Cricbuzz.
The emerging batter has really impressed one and all in the middle-order so far having amassed 134 runs from seven innings including two not-outs with his highest score being 54 averaging 26.80, and a strike rate of 139.58. He has been roped in by LSG at his base price of INR 20 lakh.
Meanwhile, the Lucknow Super Giants registered a 36-run win over the Mumbai Indians in their last encounter. The loss has knocked the five-time champions out of IPL 2022. Badoni could only manage 14 runs in that contest but those were some precious runs considering the situation that Lucknow were in with only skipper KL Rahul soldiering the innings scoring 103 runs from 62 deliveries that propelled them to a fighting total of 168/6.
Badoni would now be hoping to make his bat do the talking during Lucknow Super Giants’ next match against the Punjab Kings at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 29.
