Babar Azam aiming to hit a double or triple century in England Test series

Babar Azam, the talented Pakistan batsman, is looking to smash a triple century in the upcoming Test series against England. The 25-year-old started his career, stamping his authority in ODI and T20I cricket. In fact, he is the number-one ranked T20I batsman. But as his career has progressed, the right-handed batter has been able to show his class even in Test cricket.

In Pakistan’s last five Tests, Babar scored 615 runs at an average of 102.50 with centuries against Australia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. However, out of the five centuries in his career, Babar hasn’t been able to convert any of them. Nevertheless, against the Three Lions, the Lahore, Punjab-born talent  is looking for a double or triple ton, playing his natural game.

“When you score a century, you naturally want to go on and convert that into a double or a triple century. This is something I would like to do during the Test series. I like to play my natural game but my selection of shots depends on the conditions and bowlers,” Babar was quoted as saying in a teleconference from Worcestershire.

Babar also sounded confident about Pakistan doing well in the Test series. He understands that the Brits have the home advantage, but also sounded aplomb about Pakistan’s fast bowling battery, consisting of the likes of Mohammad Abbas, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

“We performed well on our previous tour of England which is why players are eagerly looking forward to the series. We are currently focused on winning the Test series as that is our first goal on the tour,” he stated.

“England have the home advantage but our bowlers will give a tough time to their batsmen. We will target their fragile Test top-order. Mohammad Abbas is experienced while Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi have a lot of potential. We have high expectations from our bowlers,” Babar added.

The Pakistan team has already reached England and is currently in Worcestershire where the team is observing a two-week isolation period. Apart from the Tests, Pakistan will also take part in three T20Is. It goes without saying that if Pakistan are to do well, Babar has to fire on all cylinders.
