Babar Azam can't take his bike home because of a very interesting reason
Babar won the bike being the Man of the Series.
The Pakistani team comprehensively defeated the Windies in the three-match T20I series. The series was played in Karachi to revive international cricket in the country. Furthermore, Pakistan clean swept the depleted West Indies side 3-0in the series showing their dominance in the shorter format of the game. Thus further strengthening their lead as the No.1 side in the ICC T20I Rankings.
The biggest positives for Pakistan in this series is the youngsters taking up responsibility. The younger lot in the team performed exceptionally well and showed some great maturity. Of all these players, Babar Azam was at his best. After missing out in the first game, Azam came back strong in the next two and also ended up the highest run-scorer in the series.
Not allowed to drive
He scored 165 runs in the series at a highly impressive average of 82.5 and also maintained a healthy strike rate. Moreover, he was also awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ in the 2nd T20I. He scored 97 off just 58 balls in that game. Azam was also awarded the ‘Man of the series’ and he seemed to be delighted with his performance.
“My hopes of batting well throughout the series and winning Man of the Series were answered by the Almighty. We talk to the seniors, like Shoaib Malik, who guides me a lot during pressure situations. I keep his advice in mind all the time,” said Babar at the post-match presentation.
When asked about the bike that he received as the ‘Man of the Series’ award, Azam said that he couldn’t take that back home. This was because he didn’t have a driving licence. “I can’t take the bike to Lahore since I don’t have a license,” he said.
Furthermore, Azam also expressed his happiness on Twitter. “This Man of the Series award is for Pakistan, especially for Karachi and #KarachiWale. You guys were brilliant. @westindies Thanks for touring Pakistan. It was a great privilege to have you guys here. Can’t wait to welcome more teams in our peaceful country,” he stated on social media.
