Babar Azam doesn't want to be called as the Virat Kohli of Pakistan
In a short Q&A session on Twitter, Babar expressed his desire to be the next best cricketer and he doesn't want to be called the Virat Kohli of Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Babar Azam has recently expressed his desire to be the no. 1 batsman in the world. Babar took part in a short question-answer session with his fans on Twitter and in the process, answered few interesting questions. A fan asked him about his favorite batsman, to which Babar named three modern greats – AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli and Hashim Amla. He also mentioned that it was his uncle who injected the passion for cricket in him.
The 22-year old then shared his experience of playing in the Caribbean Premier League and said that the people of Caribbean are beautiful and he enjoyed the energy around. Giving a little insight, Babar also mentioned that he likes batting at no. 3 and that is his favorite batting position.
One of his fans asked him about how he would feel to be called the Virat Kohli of Pakistan. Babar replied saying that there is no comparison, as Kohli is an established player, where as he is at the initial stage of his career. He also added that he would like to be called the Babar Azam of Pakistan, giving no scope for a scoop of controversy to step in.
He also recalled his knock of 258 in domestic cricket against HBL, when asked about his favourite moment before making his debut. One of his fans wanted him to reply to his tweet and Babar didn’t disappoint but went a little ahead saying that Kashmir stays in his heart.
The Pakistani middle order batsman has so far played in 9 Test matches, scoring 436 runs at an average of 27.25. In ODI’s, Babar has represented Pakistan in 31 games, registering 1455 runs at an average of 53.88, along with five centuries and six fifties. He has also scored a fifty in T20 internationals. The stroke-maker is currently taking part in the Caribbean Premier League.
