Babar Azam hopes to be consistent for his team
Sarfraz Ahmed hoped to continue the momentum further.
Pakistan humbled Australia by 3-0 in the T20I series in the UAE and proved their number 1 ranking in the format Babar Azam was one of the consistent performers for them in the series and fittingly won the Man of the series award. Babar, after the series victory, was ecstatic and went on to say that he wants to be the “Mr. Dependable” for his national side.
Australia’s shambolic run across all three formats continues as they came on the back of a winless tour of England in the limited-overs leg. They have endured yet another miserable tour of the UAE, involving a Test series defeat and a clean sweep in the T20 series. All the losses have come on account of horrendous performances with the bat.
Azam notched up scores of 68*, 45, and 50 in the three matches which concluded on Sunday. The Men in Green also secured their first series sweep against Australia in a limited overs format. “I don’t get satisfied if I’ve performed in one match. My role is that of an anchor which is to bat throughout the match. I try to do that.”, Azam said at the post-match presentation.
Shadab Khan continues to be key player for Pakistan
Shadab Khan, who was honored with the man of the match award in the 3rd T20I, played a key role by taking three wickets for 19 runs in four overs said, “I didn’t try to do something extra, that was the key.” Australia were shot for 117 in 19.1 overs in reply to Pakistan’s total of 150.
He added further by saying, “There was a lot more grip than the previous game, the ball was skidding through. I bowled according to the situations.”
Sarfaraz hopes to continue to the momentum
Sarfraz Ahmed, who has led Pakistan to their tenth T20 series win and under whom Pakistan has never suffered a series loss in the format, hopes to continue their impetus in the upcoming series against the Kiwis. The series win against Australia also made sure that the Men in Green retain their No. 1 ranking in T20Is.
“The boys have worked hard in all the facets. The results are just the reward. Whoever has got the opportunity, has done well. We want to carry forward the momentum to the series against New Zealand, the way we bowled and took our catches were superb,” the Pakistan captain said.
